
Controller

TalentReach is hiring on behalf of a growing organization seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting operations and provide strong financial oversight as the business continues to evolve.
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls, compliance, and the accounting team. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who is equally comfortable developing strong financial processes and rolling up their sleeves to ensure the work gets done.

The Controller will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening accounting processes and controls, and providing leadership with timely and meaningful financial information.

What You'll Do

Lead the company's accounting operations and oversee the accounting team

Maintain and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

Manage and develop accounting team members, establishing clear expectations and providing ongoing coaching and feedback

Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activities

Ensure timely collection of receivables and accurate processing of company payments

Manage the month-end and year-end close processes

Maintain the company's chart of accounts and ensure the integrity of accounting transactions

Produce accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting

Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes

Analyze budget-to-actual variances and communicate significant findings to leadership

Develop financial and operating metrics that provide greater visibility into business performance

Perform financial analysis to support business decisions and company initiatives
-
Oversee job costing and work-in-progress reporting and analysis

Manage banking and merchant services relationships, including payment methods and lines of credit

Monitor debt obligations, payments, and covenant compliance
-
Coordinate financial information and documentation required by external auditors

Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal reporting and tax requirements

Oversee property, casualty, liability, and workers' compensation insurance administration and audits

Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, controls, and operational efficiency
Requirements
-
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a senior accounting or financial management role

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline

Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls

Experience managing general ledger functions and month-end and year-end close processes

Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting

Experience with job costing and work-in-progress accounting

Strong accounting systems and software skills

Demonstrated experience leading and developing accounting professionals

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization

Ability to provide clear expectations, direct feedback, and constructive coaching to team members
-
Hands-on leadership style and willingness to remain actively involved in day-to-day accounting operations
-
Self-directed and comfortable taking ownership without extensive oversight

Ability to identify opportunities, recommend solutions, and drive improvements
Preferred Qualifications

CPA or CMA designation

Experience working in a growing or evolving organization

Experience strengthening accounting processes and controls

Experience managing banking, credit, insurance, and external audit relationships

Background in an operational, field-service, construction, or project-based environment involving job costing and WIP accounting
